Here's what experts say to look for in a point-and-shoot 35mm camera:
- Buy by price. There are so few point-and-shoot film cameras on the market that you may have a hard time just finding one. Since there are so few available models, one strategy is to simply spend as little as possible.
- Consider going digital. Even if you never plan to hook up your camera to your computer, a digital camera can still work for you. Because you can print from the camera's memory cards, you can choose to print only the photos you need, avoiding waste.
- Fixed or zoom lens. Some photo enthusiasts prefer a fixed lens, but most families prefer a zoom lens so you can get closer to your subject. However, we couldn't find any currently manufactured point-and-shoot film cameras with a zoom lens. If you need a zoom, you'll have to consider a used camera or a digital camera.
