Not able to import data anymore, November 16, 2009
I have issues connecting to my bank, so I have to hand enter EVERYTHING. There hasn't been anything I can do to fix this. As you can no longer import into a checking account this means I have to enter everything manually. This product is NOT saving me time, but wasting my time. There are workarounds however they take almost as long to utilize. Wasted money.

We bought this program as it was touted as a good translater for data from Microsoft Money. For anyone interested - it isn't.
They don't need to keep upgrading this product, October 31, 2009

I have been using Quicken forever, and it has saved my marriage by helping me to balance my bank account despite bad handwriting and poor recording habits. As far as I am concerned, all I want from it is to record and balance my checkbook, download my credit card info and let me balance that, and produce a list of income and expenditures for taxes. The rest is irrelevant. They keep coming up with new versions that have more "features", and then I have to learn to use it all over again. I would never have bought this if I hadn't bought a new computer and could not find my old disc to load it. Quicken Deluxe 2009 [OLD VERSION]

Quicken has lost me as a customer, October 28, 2009

I've been a Quicken customer ever since version 1, but Quicken 2009 has finished me as a Quicken customer. When I have time, I will uninstall 2009 and see if I can go back to Quicken 2006, which had its problems but its basic functionality was OK. Otherwise I will switch to Moneydance. Quicken 2009's unfixable bugs are a constant annoyance. You can't turn off its re-naming feature, even though supposedly you can, and the way it works can really mess up your ability to download information from banks. It also only sometimes downloads bank deposits, and never checks them as cleared; you have to do this manually. I don't use any of Quicken's more exotic features, but I'd be astonished if they worked any better than its core features, the ones Quicken has had since version 1.

2. About.com

This review compares Quicken 2009 with earlier versions. The details here could make a difference in your decision, but the review concludes that most existing Quicken users don't need to upgrade. (Note: ConsumerSearch is owned by About.com, but the two don't share an editorial affiliation.)

3. Slate.com

In this comparison, Mason Currey says he found Money Plus Deluxe easier to set up and use than Quicken Deluxe. He gives Quicken a higher score for security, however, because Money Plus requires the use of a Windows Live ID to access the service. Because it is used for a variety of Microsoft-run services, it may be more vulnerable.

4. Amazon.com

About 100 owners review Quicken 2009 Deluxe here, with the average rating of two (on a five-point scale) stemming from people who have recently upgraded from an earlier version of Quicken. Many experienced problems with software bugs before Intuit issued two patches last fall. Some complain about poor customer service.

5. CNET

CNet tests the Premier rather than the Deluxe version of Quicken 2008, but calls Quicken 2008 "a solid finance package" overall, rating it 7.3 out of a possible 10. During testing, the software crashed a Windows Vista machine, and Quicken's tech support loses points for the inaccuracy of information it provided.

6. PC World

This review compares Quicken 2008 Home and Business with the equivalent Money Plus software for small business accounting, but many of the comments can also apply to Quicken 2008 Deluxe. For example, Quicken lets users download transactions from financial institutions for three years, while Money forces an upgrade after only two.

7. Money

This review tests only the 2007 versions of Quicken and Money, but it also covers lots of alternatives that are priced cheaper or are even free. Reviewer Futrelle says both Quicken and Money are good products, but he finds both "so big that they can run slowly and be difficult to navigate."
