Breaking it down

Performance

Cools quickly and quietly. In testing at ConsumerReports.org, editors say the Kenmore 77060is one of the top performing window air conditioners for small rooms. In a free article, ConsumerReports.org editor Mary H.J. Farrell says that "The Kenmore 77060 was very good at cooling a room and relatively quiet on the low setting." Things are a bit noisier at high speeds, however, though that's something that can be said for most air conditioners. It's Energy Star rated, and meets the latest efficiency standards. User reviews are limited but highly positive. Only one rating of less than 4 stars had been left at Sears.com, the exclusive retailer of this air conditioner, at the time of this report, and even that owner recommends it for any room save a bedroom. Others largely say that it is quiet, and those that comment on installation call it quick and easy.

Ease of use

Mixed feedback. Farrell says that Kenmore 77060 air conditioner's controls could be easier to use, but doesn't dwell on details as to how and why. Users don't seem to have any issues, however. The small remote isn't backlit, and isn't temperature sensing, but is described as handy. Key features include a timer, a sleep mode, and an alert that reminds you to clean the removable filter.

Durability

Good warranty, no complaints. Kenmore is one of the brands that offers a little more than the standard one year warranty, covering the sealed refrigeration system (the most expensive thing to fix if something goes wrong) for a full five years. The track record with owners isn't extensive, but we saw no report of units that arrived dead or that have failed prematurely.

In this free article, Mary H.J. Farrell spills the beans as to which air conditioners finished at the top of the charts in ConsumerReports.org's testing. Details are skimpy, but the Kenmore 77060 is listed here as one of the top small-room (100 to 300 square feet) air conditioners.

Contributors to Sears.com, As of June 2017
