Where to Buy

The LG LP6000ER 6,000-BTU window air conditioner is a good choice for rooms of about 200 square feet, according to reviews. It is more expensive than similarly sized air conditioners, but it has a 12-inch profile, which means that more sunlight can enter a room and it's a bit easier to install. The LG LP6000ER has a remote control, digital display and timer to control temperature settings. If there is a power outage, an automatic-restart feature starts the unit again. If saving money is more important than a low profile, reviews recommend the 6,000-BTU Frigidaire FAA065P7A (Discontinued). It is cheaper and has the same power.

ConsumerReports.org is currently the only place for expert reviews of air conditioners, including the similar LG GL6000ER. Amazon.com and Epinions.com are the best places for information from owners, although there are only a handful of reviews for the LG LP6000ER.
