February 2009. The Paralda air purifier performs very well in tests at AirPurifiersAmerica.com. It comes in second place, right behind the high-end IQAir HealthPro series and right in line with other Alen models, the A350 (*est. $400) and AA375UV (*est. $600). It uses a HEPA filter and ionizer, as well as a UV light, which can be turned off. This ozone-safe air purifier is not only energy efficient (77 percent more efficient than other air purifiers, according to 1GreenProduct.com), but it also is the first air purifier to be rates as RoHS-compliant, meaning it's free of hazardous substances such as lead and mercury. It cleans the air in spaces up to 400 square feet. Unless you're specifically looking for a product labeled as green, the cheaper Alen A350 (*est. $400) removes the same percentage of allergens and costs less.
A newcomer on the scene, the Alen Paralda, is tested and rated at AirPurifiersAmerica.com, which is a consumer-advocate retail site that also conducts detailed tests of their products. Another review can be found at 1GreenProduct.com, which offers information and reviews of what they consider the best eco-friendly products. AchooAllergy.com also blogs about the Paralda on their retail site. Unfortunately, no user reviews are available as yet at Amazon.com or Epinions.com.

This eco-friendly air purifier is not only a green product but is also literally the color green. The reviewer tests this product and reports on issues such as its energy efficiency, footprint size, noise level and ease of use. However, he admits to not having the ability to measure clean-air output.

The owners of this retail site say they test every product they sell but offer no details of their testing methodology. In their blog, they provide a short write-up on the new Alen Paralda, saying it "could very well be the most eco-friendly air purifier on the market." They recommend this air purifier for any allergy and asthma sufferer who doesn't have multiple chemical sensitivities or smoke- or odor-control issues.
