- Quiet
- Effective on pet dander, pollen, and mold spores
- UV lamp for bacterial control
- Activated carbon filters for odors
- Only for very small rooms
- Reported customer service problems
October 2007. Air-Purifiers-America.com calls the Alen T300 "the quietest HEPA air purifier we have ever tested," and especially likes its features that are more often found on more expensive air purifiers: a UV lamp for bacterial control and activated carbon filters for removing odors (which are relatively inexpensive to replace). Reviewers say this air purifier is especially good at removing pet dander, pollen and mold spores, but only covers an area of 300 square feet (compared to up to 800 square feet for another Alen model, the $400 Alen A350). One expert says it works best in much smaller rooms of about 100 square feet. For more recent reviews, please see our latest update on air purifiers.
We were only able to find two professional reviews of the Alen T300 Tower Air Purifier, but they're good ones: a short blurb on Air-Purifiers-America.com based on this site's rigorous testing, and a thorough description by the enthusiast site Air-Purifier-Power.com. The T300 also receives comments from a handful of owners posting on Amazon.com. It has not yet been tested at Consumer Reports.

Review: Alen T300 Tower Air Purifier, Editors of Air-Purifiers-America.com
Reviewer Ed Sherbenou doesn't test the Alen T300, but does a good job describing its features. Although he dismisses tower air purifiers as representing "style over substance," he has mostly good things to say about this machine, and notes that it will work best in only very small (100 square foot or so) rooms.

3. Amazon.com
There about eight owners who post reviews at Amazon.com about the Alen T300 Tower Air Purifier, and they're mostly positive. However, one reviewer complains of poor customer service from Alen after the UV lamp failed and another laments the price of the UV lamps, suggesting an alternative and less expensive brand to replace them.
