Worked for 1 Week then Horror, August 20, 2009

I purchased this item to replace an Ionic Breeze. This Alen air cleaner worked for one week, then totally stopped. I called Alen customer service and after a wait on hold I was connected to someone who took all my information and promised someone would call back. Several hours later I called again and got someone else who took all my information and asked me to try a few things - which did not work. Guy #2 promised to send an confirming email within 1/2 hour with further instructions. Still no return calls from Alen. Guy #2 said that it will take 2 weeks ~~ or so ~~ to process return. Great Company ! For the week that the unit worked it was rather noisy on all but low speeds and the rear filter cover is hard to get off and then to get back on. The small switch at the bottom "has caused some problems" however, my unit is is DOA -- even with the switch depressed. With air cleaner companies like Alen - there may be a lot more DOAs in hospitals during allergy seasons.

Purifier works fine but UV lamps can be costly, May 27, 2009

I purchased the Alen T300 this February and I've been pretty happy with the results. However, my major complaint comes from the fact that the UV lamp has already burned out and it just seems a bit ludicrous to have to replace a $79 lamp in four months. Of course, it's not covered under the warranty so along with replacing the filters for $45 every 6 months, now I have to replace the UV lamp even sooner. I don't know about you but it seems a bit steep!

nice, April 13, 2009

I have a bad allergy and i was looking for somthing to help me. I found about alen t300 and I had to give it a try I place it in my bed room and I would say that I feel a diffrent. I'm the kind of guy who run to his car after leaving home and never stay outside because I can feel getting sick, my bed room is the best place where i can spend my time since i have it placed there and I only breath perfectly with full open nose there I would say, this is one of the best thing I ever bought in my life

Does the job, March 14, 2009

We've had this in our bedroom for about a year, with no problems. We run it 24 hours a day on the lowest setting, and the noise is not noticeable across the room when we're sleeping. Anything higher than LOW, however, is quite noisy, despite the claims. Operation is fairly easy, and maintenance is simple. Taking off the back cover reveals the two HEPA filters, which fit into two close fitting spaces. These are easily removed. The HEPA filters have a foam back pre-filter attached by Velcro-type tape. We vacuum these covers or wash them if they are particularly dirty, about twice a month. I have not had any problem replacing the back cover. If you line up the proper tab with the appropriate hole, and snap the top in, there is a beep which indicates the back is properly closed. There is an LED readout on the unit which purports to let you know when you need to replace the HEPA filters. The colors of the lights change from green to yellow to red. Supposedly when all the LED indicators turn red you need to replace the filters. I have no idea whether this is true. After twelve months the air is still noticeably cleaner in our room, and my wife's allergies are much better. I would buy this again.

Air purifier that really works, April 20, 2008

Living in Georgia with all the pollen I developed allergies. I would sit in my den watching TV and find myself getting stuffed up and congested. That all stopped (with no medications) when I got the T300. I have bought several air purifiers but only the Alen T300 has made a noticeable and lasting difference in the air quality in my home. I own 2 and sleep with one in my bedroom. I sleep much better and can actually breath freely all night. I have had no problems with either unit and highly recommend the Alen products to anyone looking for a top rated trouble free unit.

1. Air-Purifiers-America.com

Air-Purifiers-America.com tests air purifier models with a high-performance laser particle counter, which measures the air purifier's ability to remove particles from the air. The editors of Air-Purifiers-America.com praise the Alen T300 Tower Air Purifier's UV lamp for bacterial control, activated carbon filters for odors and reasonably priced replacement filters. The Alen T300 is called "the quietest HEPA air purifier we have ever tested." They say it's especially effective at removing pet dander, pollen and mold spores.

2. Air-Purifier-Power.com

Reviewer Ed Sherbenou doesn't test the Alen T300, but does a good job describing its features. Although he dismisses tower air purifiers as representing "style over substance," he has mostly good things to say about this machine, and notes that it will work best in only very small (100 square foot or so) rooms.

3. Amazon.com

There about eight owners who post reviews at Amazon.com about the Alen T300 Tower Air Purifier, and they're mostly positive. However, one reviewer complains of poor customer service from Alen after the UV lamp failed and another laments the price of the UV lamps, suggesting an alternative and less expensive brand to replace them.
