On its website, Biotech claims the EdenPure Area Air Purifier "helps eliminate dust, smoke, pollen, germs, mold, pet dander, dust mites, odors and much more." However, the EdenPure does a poor job removing dust and smoke in one independent test. It also emits up to 990 parts per billion (ppb) of toxic ozone in that test. Ozone is a known lung irritant that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration limits to only 50 ppb in medical devices. Most air purifiers don't claim to be medical devices, but it's still a useful measure. Ozone generators like the EdenPure have been banned in California. In this price range, experts prefer the Honeywell Enviracaire 50250-N (*Est. $195), which uses tried-and-true HEPA filtration and costs less.
We were only able to find a few reviews of the Biotech EdenPure Area Air Purifier at the time of our last write-up, and unfortunately, one of them is no longer available online. The suspiciously positive "review" of the EdenPure at CleanAirHouse.com shows how difficult it can be to find unbiased information about air purifiers. ConsumerReports.org doesn't include the EdenPure in its most recent air-purifier review, but its website does feature an article about ozone generators that mentions the EdenPure. TheDailyGreen.com mentions the EdenPure in a recent article about potentially dangerous air purifiers.

1. CleanAirHouse.com
We don't include this article because it's particularly helpful, but because it shows how hard it can be to find unbiased information about air purifiers. The writer promises to cite some reviews of the EdenPure air purifier, but relies solely on information from the manufacturer. The EdenPure is described as the "ultimate purifier."

Testers at ConsumerReports.org do not include the Biotech EdenPure in their air-purifier review, but they do conduct tests on this model and use it as an example in a brief article about ozone generators. The EdenPure produces ozone levels far greater than what the Environmental Protection Agency has determined is safe, and ConsumerReports.org deems this unacceptable.
Review: Not Acceptable: Ozone Generators, Editors of ConsumerReports.org, April 2009
This website calls itself the "consumer's guide to the green revolution." The Biotech EdenPure is included in its list of potentially hazardous air purifiers that is in response to the California Air Resources Board's recent warning about ozone-producing air purifiers.
