Ease of use

Good but basic functionality. Reviewers find little to grouse about when it comes to the Brother MFC-7460DN. Paper handling is fairly robust, including an ample 250 sheet paper tray, a single-sheet manual feed slot and a built-in duplexer for automatic double-sided printing. However, complains that there are no available paper-handling upgrades, such as an extra or higher-capacity paper tray. The multifunction printer (MFP) lacks a preview screen, but the LCD control panel is logically laid out, says That site's Simon Williams adds that the two-part cartridge system (separate toner and drum) makes maintenance easy. Some conveniences found in other multifunction printers are missing -- most notably Wi-Fi connectivity for wireless networking.

Reviews show that the MFC-7460DN printer is fast (about 24 pages per minute, or 12 in duplex mode) and produces excellent-quality text, although its graphics quality is only so-so. Scan quality is good, but one reviewer says the scanner is a pain to use. This printer has very low paper and toner costs; one source estimates them at a mere $2.90 a month. The MFC-7460DN has about 160 reviews at, most of which are 4- or 5-star ratings.

Good office features but no Wi-Fi. The Brother MFC-7460DN offers a variety of handy features for business users: a built-in fax, a 35-page auto document feeder for scanning and copying lengthy documents, a 250-sheet paper tray (which holds letter or legal size paper) and automatic duplexing. It can connect to a network through Ethernet, but not wirelessly. This laser multifunction printer also lacks features for photo printing, such as memory card and PictBridge compatibility.
