Worth the $$, but not always accurate, January 9, 2010

This is a solid product. Extremely portable and easy to use. Warning: Many GPS systems, including this one, will not always necessarily get you to your destination in the fastest time possible. I have noticed that this device will direct me in some pretty bizarre directions so don't always listen to it's advice if you know a faster way! Besides for that, this is a great buy and very useful for on the go travel. This model does not have any out of the ordinary features like the more expensive models from Garmin but who needs those anyway? This thing definitely gets the job done, while at the same time looks pretty cool in the car and is not too distracting.

Garmin hits another homerun., December 31, 2009
Great ease of use and lightweight. The screen is much better than earlier versions. The voice is sharp while the previous one was clear without sounding like a drill sargent on a bad morning. For senior eyes and ears all id clear and distinct.
Reviewing "Greta" Garmin, December 30, 2009

The new Garmin Nuvi 260W is my second GPS unit. Once I heard the voice, I knew it must be "Greta" Garmin. Streets change and GPS maps should be updated too. I decided to upgrade my GPS because my Pioneer GPS was too expensive to update with the latest North American map package. The Garmin seemed much more reasonable in this regard. The Garmin Nuvi 260W also announces its turn directions with the street name. I consider this a primary advantage. It is an aural clue and does not require that you look at the GPS screen while driving. Just listen and "Greta" will tell you well in advance what to do at an upcoming street; no peeking at the GPS screen required - just safe driving. I thought the use of the "find address menu" in the software was very simple and logical. Saving the locations to memory was also straightforward. The memory bank of local sites is much more complete than my previous GPS. The screen size is appropriately large and bright. It is easy to see during the day in bright sunlight and is not glaring at night when it jumps automatically to night mode colors. The price was certainly fair and delivery from Amazon.com was prompt as always. This is a solid, well engineered unit worthy of your consideration.

Great Item to Have, But a Caveat, December 26, 2009

I really like this product: it's easy to use, the features work, the connectivity to the satellites is quick. The only thing that I find very disappointing is the battery life. I used it on a road trip from one unfamiliar area to another (2.5 hours), and I barely had enough battery by the last leg of the trip. I also find that if I plug it in in the car, it automatically switches to "charging" mode, and no longer gives directions. I think this means that I need to make sure the battery is fully charged every time I want to use it - bummer.

Great for non English speaking folks, December 24, 2009
Got this for my dad and it works great since my brother lives in San Francisco. My dad need it to get around in SF. Whats best is that its acutally speaks Cantonese and display Chinese. I bought Garmin just for this very reason because my dad does not speak english that well. Tom Tom doesn't offer any Asian language at all.
