Garmin nuvi 755T

The Garmin nuvi 755T adds a slew of new features that make it a worthwhile upgrade from older models, experts say. The lane-assist feature tells you what lane you need to be in for upcoming intersections, transparent 3-D buildings make it easier to see where you are, and the nuvi 755T comes with free traffic alerts for life. Critics recommend it as a cheaper alternative to the top-rated Garmin nuvi 765T (*Est. $350), which is identical to the nuvi 755T except it adds Bluetooth for hands-free calling. On both of these models, users and some experts caution that the promise of lane assist and free traffic is better than the reality; neither is available in all areas.

PCMag.com's test, which pits the Garmin nuvi 755T against the older Garmin nuvi 760, is the only direct comparison test we found for this model. GPSTracklog.com does not include the nuvi 755T in a head-to-head test, but it does conduct a detailed road test and ranks the nuvi 755T in its buyer's guide. GPSLodge.com does not rank GPS units, but testing here is expert and critical. GPSMagazine.com's test is exhaustive, but it is based on the nuvi 765T (which is nearly identical to the nuvi 755T).
