Garmin nuvi 500

Works as advertised. Auto re-calculates quickly if your route changes. Long battery life. Easy registration and map update when you first hook it up to the internet. Very intuitive operating system… with easy to use touch-screen. I haven't used it off-road or on a lake or ocean yet, but the car and pedestrian modes work great. I would highly recommend it if you need something that is water-proof and has a long battery life. I will purchase the optional motorcycle handlebar mount and use this on my Harley Davidson this summer, which is one of the main reasons that I bought this model.

while this will lead you back to a starting point on or off road the road directions are questionable. it was recently used on a trip to scout out possible home sites.some addresses were right on the money… a couple were way off base 2 taking us miles off and past the spot we were looking for and on to dirt and gravel one lane mountain roads.it will need some careful testing before i trust it to lead me out of back country.the road instructions were some times confusing tell to bare one way or the other when you could only go straight and bare one way was a turn and vice versa. it cannot be relied upon with confidence.
