Garmin StreetPilot 7200

We found several good reviews of the Garmin StreetPilot 7200, but only The Travel Insider's review is new enough to be entirely relevant in the current market. Otherwise-worthwhile articles in PC Magazine and on GPSInformation.net are out-of-date. GPSMagazine.com does not provide a full review of the StreetPilot 7200, but offers an excellent reason to reject it. A substantial amount of owner feedback at Amazon.com is largely favorable.

With its 7-inch display, the Garmin StreetPilot 7200 fills a specialty market niche: It's for people who drive RVs or large commercial vehicles, or who have difficulty reading smaller screens. It offers text-to-speech and multi-destination routing, but so do less expensive units with a regular 4.3-inch widescreen, such as the Garmin nüvi 750 (*est. 375) and nüvi 760 (*est. $425). The Garmin StreetPilot 2820 (*est. $470), the most similar Garmin unit, has a smaller screen with nearly the same resolution and includes Bluetooth, which is missing on the 7200. Neither the 7200 nor the 2820 use the SiRFstar III chipset (considered the best available), as the Garmin nüvis do. Since the StreetPilot 7200 has such a large screen, it is largely in a class by itself, but it's pricey for a unit still using old technology.
