Expert reviewers tend to like Navigon GPS units, because they pioneer innovative features. However, Navigon announced in spring 2009 that it would no longer market GPS units in the U.S., making them much less attractive. The Navigon 7200T still offers unbeatable features at a low price, reviews say. You won't find reality view and voice commands on competitors' units unless you spend nearly twice as much. However, testers say Navigon's voice-command feature is very limited compared with Garmin's excellent version. Some of the 7200T's other impressive features, such as multidestination routing, lane assist and reality view, can now be found on Garmin units as well. Reviews say these Garmins are easier to use, pick better routes and their screens are easier to see than Navigon's. A few Navigon users have begun to report unresponsive customer service since the company's exodus from the U.S. market, which was announced back in May of 2009.
GPSReview.net, PCMag.com and CNET all test the Navigon 7200T, and they're remarkably consistent in their findings, both positive and negative. ConsumerReports.org presents a unique comparison chart that shows how the Navigon 7200T stacks up against more than 80 of its rivals, but only subscribers can access it. User reviews at Amazon.com indicate a few problems that don't show up in expert tests.
