The TomTom Go 930T adds a built-in traffic receiver and one free year of traffic alerts to the TomTom Go 930 (Discontinued). But reviews of the Go 930T's traffic information are mixed. In the U.K., where TomTom GPS units generally beat other brands in navigation tests, critics find the Go 930T's traffic alerts aren't always accurate. Few U.S. experts or users have reviewed the Go 930T's traffic capabilities, although those who have usually find no problems. Some reviews note that the Go 930T's windshield mount seems flimsy. The Go 930T offers the same new features as the Go 930: IQ routes, which picks the quickest routes based on actual speeds TomTom users have achieved on a given road, and advanced lane guidance, which shows what lane you'll need to be in at an upcoming intersection. Reviews find that both features work well, but they are not available in all areas.

More than one reviewer recommends sticking with the less expensive TomTom Go 730 (Discontinued), which omits the Go 930T's traffic receiver, maps of Europe and dead reckoning, which allows the Go 930 to keep navigating even if it loses its satellite lock, such as in a tunnel. But U.S. reviewers more commonly recommend Garmin GPS units, such as the Garmin nuvi 765T (Discontinued), which they say are easier to use and navigate better in North America than TomToms.

Few U.S. reviewers have tested the TomTom Go 930T, but ConsumerReports.org does include it in its most recent tests. Three British review sources -- TrustedReviews.com, PocketGPSWorld.com and TechRadar.com -- conduct thorough road tests, but the Go 930T relies on different traffic information in the U.K., so U.S. drivers may not get the same results. We found reviews from U.S. users at Amazon.com, but many of them actually refer to the Go 930.

British reviewer Jonathan Bray makes the TomTom Go 930 Traffic one of his top picks, based on road tests in London. However, he recommends that people who already own a TomTom Go 720 or Go 920 stick with their old units, rather than buy this expensive new model.
