Like many other bottles, the Tommee Tippee claims to mimic the shape of a mother's breast and keep babies from experiencing nipple confusion. Its wide mouth with the larger, more encompassing nipple is the popular design of the moment. The bottle also comes in a Sensitive Tummy design, which has a different, tube-like feeding system (*Est. $23 for two).
These bottles are BPA-free and there are no small parts that can pose a choking hazard.
The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottle is pretty straightforward, it consists of a nipple with a ring. There are numerous reports of leakage, but the instructions on the website say that the ring has to be carefully installed to prevent leaking. It is dishwasher safe on the top rack. The anti-colic system is part of the nipple assembly, so it does not add any additional parts to clean or assemble.
Small as they are, babies can be extremely opinionated when it comes to which kind of bottle they like. Most bottles, like the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature, have some kind of anti-colic technology. In this case, more parents say it works than those who say it doesn't. There are also quite a few complaints of nipple collapse. It has a curved shape that is easy for mom or baby to hold.
The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature is one of the priciest bottles in this review. It can often be found on sale around the web, but with a suggested retail of $28 for three 9-ounce bottles, that's about $13 per bottle, which is at the high end of the price point for this type of bottle.
Although these bottles are popular overseas, reviews in the U.S. have been mixed at best. Between the price, leaks, nipple collapse and bottles coming apart, these bottles cannot be recommended highly.
