Peace of mind, some build quality issues, June 15, 2009

We got one of these with our first child and another for our second child. It provides remarkable peace of mind, especially for first time parents. We haven't had many issues with false alarms, though they can occur (sensitivity adjustment is helpful). Now that our older child is 2.5 years old and in a toddler bed, we still use the monitor, as the motion sensor is now useful to tell us when she is out of bed (alarm goes off when no motion detected in bed). One issue has been the quality of the power supplies (typical "wall wart" transformers). Of the four supplies we've had (for 2 towers and 2 base stations), two have developed large cracks in the transformer housing and one of those also developed worn insulation on the wires. We typically plug and unplug the tower units from the wall once or twice a day (put kid in bed, bring tower downstairs to work, then bring tower upstairs to our bedroom when we go to bed). I would imagine this is pretty typical use, so the cracking of the housing is surprising (and yes, we unplug by gripping the housing, not by tugging on the wire). As some have noted, static can be an issue. We've found that it can be made a lot better by making sure that the tower is the only thing plugged into a typical two-outlet power outlet. Static becomes worse if, say, the tower is plugged into the same panel as a clock radio.

Comfort 4 a first time Mom, June 15, 2009
This monitor really is like having an Angel on duty. My daughter (a first-time mom) was nervous about laying her baby down alone but this monitor helped her feel more secure. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone.
Saved my sons life, May 13, 2009
My son was 4 days old when he stopped breathing. My husband did CPR on him and saved his life. He was then admitted into the the hospital for several days. The doctors classified it as "near-miss SIDS". This monitor can save lives! It's an investment worth making!!! LOVE IT!!!!!
don't get swept up in the "sensor" - it's a crappy monitor, April 8, 2009

While the sensor is a great feature and certainly offers peace of mind (which is why we got it), the actual monitoring leaves much to be desired. The monitor is very prone to interference, has terrible range and constantly "hisses".. there is no sound-activated feature where it's muted while there is no or almost no noise. This is particularly annoying at night. The build quality is also pretty bad. One of our transmitters fell about 3 feet and broke immediately.

Excellent product, January 29, 2009

This is a great product. My wife and I sleep much more soundly at night knowing that our baby is being monitored by this product while she sleeps. I've had the monitor about 5 months and only two times a false alarm has sounded. This occurred because she was not in the center of the bed and was breathing lightly at the same time. To me this is no big deal to check up on her. I prefer the machine to err on the side of caution than to confuse vibrations in the house as baby movements. Well worth the money.
