Professional reviewers give the Graco iMonitor very good ratings, but owner-written reviews are mixed. Interference and accidental eavesdropping -- two common baby monitor problems -- are greatly reduced with the digital iMonitor. Both professional reviewers and owners criticize the battery life of the Graco iMonitor, but overall this model strikes the best blend of ease of use and clarity, with minimal interference. The iMonitor is available with either one or two parent receiver units.

Both Baby Bargains and Consumer Reports include the Graco iMonitor in their excellent coverage of baby monitors. Consumer Reports ranks each model according to the results of independent tests. Baby Bargains, which relies on informal testing and extensive research, includes more detailed coverage of each brand's lineup. Owner-written reviews are another good source of information on baby monitors. Amazon.com has a useful number of posts on the iMonitor. There are also some fairly helpful video reviews posted on ExpoTV.com.

Our Sources

1. Baby Bargains

Consumer advocates Denise and Alan Fields have included an excellent section on baby monitors in their book, "Baby Bargains." Ratings aren't based on laboratory testing, but the authors do conduct extensive research as well as their own informal testing. Parent interviews are also taken into account. Editors report on the Graco iMonitor, rating it against the competition.

2. ConsumerReports.org

Consumer Reports includes the Graco iMonitor and ten other audio baby monitors in this report. Consumer Reports has an excellent reputation for independent testing, and baby monitors are rated according to four test criteria: convenience, sensitivity, battery life and interference.

3. Amazon.com

Overall, Amazon.com is the best source of user reviews for baby monitors. Graco's iMonitor is one of the top-selling models on Amazon.com, but its ratings aren't outstanding. In well over 100 owner-written reviews, the iMonitor averages only a middling score.

4. ExpoTV.com

ExpoTV.com allows contributors to post video reviews of products they have experience with. Reviews for the iMonitor baby monitor are quite informative even though there's no controlled testing and the iMonitor isn't compared to other models.
