Basic baby monitor
- Sensitivity
- Battery life
- Good sound quality and clarity
- 27 channels
- Parent unit beeps excessively
- Susceptible to interference, eavesdropping
Professional reviews for the Sony BabyCall NTM-910 baby monitor are very good and owners generally agree. However, this 900 MHz analog monitor is still susceptible to interference and accidental eavesdropping because it operates on the same frequency used by other electronics (like cordless phones) and other baby monitors (which could pick up sound from the Sony monitor). If you want something that prevents accidental eavesdropping and eliminates interference from other electronics, we found the best reviews for the Philips Avent SCD510 DECT Baby Monitor (*Est. $110) and Safety 1st High-Def Digital Monitor 08024 (*Est. $50), both of which operate on the little-used 1.9 GHz DECT frequency.
The Sony BabyCall NTM-910 baby monitor gets good coverage in both professional and owner-written reviews. Consumer Reports includes this model in their test-based comparative review, and "Baby Bargains" devotes a section to Sony's baby monitors as well. There are some good user reviews of the BabyCall NTM-910 on sites like Epinions and Viewpoints.com, but Amazon.com offers by far the best selection with over 500 posts.
