Intended for ages 15 and older, the L.L.Bean Rolling Deluxe backpack gets better ratings than most wheeled packs for comfort, performance and durability. The 2,350-cubic-inch capacity is well-organized, with two big main compartments plus an organizer pocket. A reflecting patch on the front increases visibility, and tuck-away padded shoulder straps are contoured for extra comfort. At about 5.5 pounds, it's also fairly light for a rolling backpack but significantly heavier than a pack without wheels. The fabric is tough, with abrasion-resistant ballistic nylon on the pack's bottom. The Rolling Deluxe comes in four colors and can be personalized with an optional monogram (*Est. $6). For a smaller but lighter pack without wheels, consider the JanSport Big Student (*Est. $40).

The best review of the L.L.Bean Rolling Deluxe is from Good Housekeeping magazine, which recommends three rolling backpacks suitable for kids based on feedback from a panel of child testers. The most opinions of the Rolling Deluxe come from LLBean.com, where more than 140 owners post comments on durability and convenience. A brief review is found in a roundup on About.com, but it doesn't appear that the backpacks have been tested.
