The simple Health o meter HDL820-18 gets great reviews from users who say that it is basic but it works. Owners give this scale high marks for accuracy and ease of use, although, as with all digital scales, some complain… that it isn't always consistent. The scale has an easy-to-read 1.3-inch LCD display and measures up to 330 pounds in 0.2-pound increments. The Health o meter, however, only measures weight (not body fat) and doesn't have any stored memory. Its glass accents make it a great fit for any décor. Experts recommend spending a little more money on a Tanita scale if you want to measure body fat as well.

The biggest complaint about home bath scales is that readings can be inaccurate and inconsistent. The Tanita Body Fat/Body Water Monitor BF-680W gets higher scores on both counts, according to reviews. The Tanita digital… scale measures weight, but also measures estimated body-fat percentage. However, experts say that no digital scale can do a very accurate job of measuring body fat. Even so, reviews say the Tanita bathroom scale is consistent, so you can measure your progress. The scale has a 300-pound weight limit. Keep in mind that because body-fat percentage is measured with an electrical pulse, pregnant women and those with pacemakers should not use this or any scale with a body-fat feature.

Though expensive, the Health o meter medical scale gets almost perfect scores in reviews. Like the scales you see in doctors' offices and gyms, the Health o meter bath scale uses weights to counterbalance a metal arm.… Results are highly accurate. Since the measurements are at about chest level, it's easy to read, and at 450 pounds, the weight limit is higher than any conventional bathroom scale. However, this scale isn't exactly discreet, and it needs a lot of space.
