The EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Scale offers accurate body composition measurements, covering four metrics: weight, body fat, bone mass and body water. It's also more affordable than similar body-fat scales and has the ability to monitor measurements for up to eight users. Setup is easy, and the scale calibrates automatically; no tap-on is required. While there are some complaints of malfunctioning units, EatSmart is known for its superior customer service.
Consistent readings, good for tracking progress over time: The EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale can track up to eight users for body mass, body water, bone mass and muscle mass based on a user's weight and other settings manually entered by the user (height, lifestyle considerations). One user posting a review to Amazon.com says, the EatSmart Precision GetFit "keeps track of different profiles and weighs accurately. I love the body fat percent, water, muscle and bone measurements. It's light and easy to access."
There are some concerns about the accuracy of the body-fat measurements and other body-composition readings. A number of users point out that this is an issue common to most home-use body-fat scales, because the bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) method used to determine those measurements is less accurate than more complex tests. The gold standard in body-fat analysis, hydrostatic weighing, can only be done under tight laboratory conditions with the proper equipment, making it impractical for home use. These same users add that they are satisfied with the GetFit scale's ability to track their progress over time.
Simple setup and intuitive use: The EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale must be set up before use by inputting statistics for each user, but most owners agree that setup is a cinch and typically takes less than 10 minutes. Reviews also praise this scale's ability to track up to eight users, making it simple for different family members to monitor their personal weight loss and fitness goals.
Liz Mays, who reviews the EatSmart Precision GetFit on her blog, ANutInANutshell.com, says, "There's no tapping, jiggling, or stomping on the thing to get it to wake up and be ready. Just step on it, and BOOM! It weighs you within seconds." Among more than 1,200 owner-written reviews on Amazon.com, consistent high points are the large, backlit display and ample platform. One user notes although he has large feet, they fit on the platform, and he can still read the display easily.
One downside mentioned is that the recommendations for body type offered in the product manual may be inaccurate. For instance, one owner points out that he initially classified himself as an "athletic male," because he exercises more than 10 hours per week. In doing so, he found his body composition measurements to be off, until he changed his body type to "male." Users may have to tweak their configurations to find the right settings if they're comparing their readings to measurements taken elsewhere.
Durable product, excellent customer service: Users posting reviews of the EatSmart Precision GetFit on Amazon.com say this scale is "well built," noting that there are no flimsy plastic pieces, which could break easily. It is thin but weighs about 4.5 pounds, giving it a substantial feel.
Like most EatSmart scales, there are some users who report getting a malfunctioning unit. EatSmart is known for its superior customer service, and many received replacement products that have functioned flawlessly for months or years. The EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale is backed by EatSmart's two-year warranty.
Sleek, modern finish looks great in any bathroom: The EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale has a sleek, modern look that owners love, with a black, shiny platform and chrome-like sides and bottom. One user describes the scale; "It looks very slick - it is very thin, has a healthy weight to it, and the finish is gorgeous - makes you think you're standing on an iPad."

The EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale is named the best body-fat scale for its ability to track up to eight users, and the author says it "measures everything you need to know." It's not clear why certain products are chosen over others beyond specifications, however.

Review Credibility: Good This blogger was provided with a free scale to test. What we like about this review is that the author compares the GetFit scale to the readings on two other scales she has in her home: another body-fat scale and a Wii Fit scale. She also weighs herself a few times over a few days to check for reliability. She reports the GetFit scale is consistent with the other scales in her home and offers consistent readings over time. Another plus noted is the bone-mass measurement, an important factor for women.

Review Credibility: Fair Suzana Uzelac was given a free EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale in exchange for a review. Uzelac says the Precision GetFit is easy to use and has a large platform, although it's thin enough to store easily. She does point out that it can be programmed for users between the ages of 10 and 80, so she wasn't able to use it to calculate her 7-year-old daughter's body composition.

Review Credibility: Fair This blogger was also given a sample GetFit scale in exchange for her review, as well as an additional scale to give away to a reader. Mays likes the fact that the scale does not require a tap to calibrate before use and that it displays four different body-composition measurements. She does point out that users must be barefoot to get accurate readings other than weight.
