Among the many smaller barbecue sauce brands on the market, Bone Suckin' Original generates a large number of enthusiastic reviews and user posts. A blend of tomato paste, vinegar, apple cider, honey, molasses, mustard, horseradish, lemon juice, onions, garlic, peppers, hickory smoke flavor and a little salt, Bone Suckin's smoky/spicy/sweet taste resonates with reviewers, who wax rhapsodic about its balanced blend -- which, barbecue gurus tell us, is the secret of the perfect sauce. BBQ Sauce Reviews editor Brian Henderson says, "The smell is wonderful -- a sweet yet complex aroma with hints of apple, mustard, lemon, onions, and the 'smokiness' that all barbecue sauces attempt."

Barbecue guru Josh Bousel, editor of The Meatwave, notes the chunks of onion and garlic and flecks of pepper and spice, and adds that the thinner consistency of the sauce allows the natural flavor of the meat to come through, and also helps it to char without burning. "It's not very thick, but it isn't too thin to be practical," Bousel says. "There's bits of onion floating throughout, which adds a nice texture element to whatever meat you're using it on." The editors of Food & Wine magazine say that Bone Suckin' is "tangy and smoky with a real kick," while BBQ website Insane Chicken tells us that with just one bite, the name of the sauce becomes apparent -- you just can't get enough of it.

User posts from foodie sites such as Chowhound and Roadfood, as well as posts from Amazon.com customers, echo this praise for Bone Suckin' barbecue sauce, saying that it's not too sweet, not too tomato-y -- just the perfect blend. Reviewers also praise Bone Suckin's thick and hot BBQ sauce varieties, which cost the same as the original flavor. Bone Suckin' is more expensive than popular supermarket brands such as Sweet Baby Ray's Original barbecue sauce (*Est. $5 for 18 oz.) and Bull's Eye Original Barbecue Sauce (*Est. $2 for 18 oz.), and not as readily available on grocery store shelves, but reviewers say that its all-natural ingredients make it worth the extra effort to obtain, and it's not as expensive as some of the other gourmet BBQ sauces currently on the market.
