Editors conduct a blind taste test of 27 nationally available barbecue sauces and crown four winners. The hot version of Bone Suckin' Sauce is one of them. Editors call this sauce "tangy and smoky, with a real kick." Editors don't discuss their testing methodology or name the sauces that didn't make the grade.

Brian Henderson says he judges BBQ sauces on the basis of taste by "using similar meats and grilling approach." He rates sauces on aroma, flavor before cooking, consistency, flavor post-grilling, ingredients (downgrading sauces for artificial flavors), nutritional value and marketing/packaging. Bone Suckin' Sauce wins with a perfect score. Henderson deems it "one of the best sauces on the market."

Certified barbecue competition judge Eric Devlin rates sauces on quality, viscosity, aroma, appearance and packaging. He tastes them on home-smoked chicken, brisket and pulled pork. Devlin tests the thicker version of Bone Suckin' Sauce, and says, "This sauce is about as good as it gets." He thinks it's an excellent choice for chicken or pork, but beef brisket may need a bolder sauce.
