The Specialized Andorra is marketed specifically to long-haired riders with the unique Hairport, an integrated opening through which riders can feed their ponytails. Despite this extra hole at the back of the helmet, the rear affords more coverage than most road helmets, giving the Andorra extra off-road safety protection as well. This adds to the weight of the helmet but also to its versatility. The helmet is a little more difficult to place on the head at first, but the result is a secure feel. Good ventilation and comfy straps make this a decent choice even for short-haired riders.
Stylish with ponytail port. Specialized's new Hairport design, found in the Andorra and Aspire helmet models, allows "a more generous space than is found on typical bicycle helmets between the shell and the adjustable plastic strap that controls the fit of the helmet on the crown of the head," writes the reviewer from Velojoy.com. A rider with long hair simply slips a mid-to-high ponytail through the Hairport to catch a breeze on the nape. The helmet's ventilation system also pleases reviewers, who add a hat underneath adds warmth in cool weather without sacrificing comfort.
Medium weight. Tipping the scales at 310 grams, the Specialized Andorra is the heaviest of the women's helmets ConsumerSearch reviewed. While this may add neck strain on long bike rides, the weight is comparable to some of the other mid-range helmets that do not offer as much comfort. Riders who aim to race may consider other unisex helmets that weigh less, but casual cyclists or commuters may not notice the difference. Specialized has also updated the straps that fasten the helmet onto the head, creating wider loops around the ears, which the reviewer at Velojoy.com liked. However, the small buckle on the chinstrap may be too small for easy use, especially if the rider is wearing gloves.
The helmet is a "snug" fit, according to BikeMagic.com's reviewer, who also praises the helmet's micro-adjustable dial to adjust fit. The dial is located at the back of the helmet under the ponytail port.
No details. We found no ownership insight from riders who had owned the Andorra helmet for any significant amount of time.

Review Credibility: Excellent Noting that the Specialized Andorra is a little heavier than other women's helmets, Jennifer Stuart-Smith nevertheless gives the helmet a good review, calling it "a great day-to-day helmet." She says the Hairport, Specialized's port in the cradle of the helmet through which long-haired riders can feed their ponytails, is a clever selling point. She writes that the ventilation in the helmet is good, and in cooler weather, a hat can fit under the helmet comfortably, adding insulation.
