January 2009. Reviews say that the Droll Yankee Whipper is an excellent bird feeder, designed especially for cardinals. Experts say cardinals have difficulty with the straight perches on ordinary tube feeders because they have shorter necks that don't turn easily and bigger feet than other songbirds. While the Brome Squirrel Buster Plus (*est. $75) has a detachable perch ring for cardinals, reviews say the curved perches of the Whipper accommodate cardinals perfectly and are individually calibrated to collapse when anything heavier hops on. This feeder is 21" long, has four ports, and holds four quarts of seed.
