What we don't yet know is when the amputations took place, so we don't know how long Maclaren has known about the problem. More details should be forthcoming. The CBS News report says that injuries can occur whether the stroller is open or closed, but so far, we don't know which hinge is the problem. The safest thing is to stop using your stroller, but for many parents, that's going to be difficult.
The Maclaren website has been flooded with hits this morning -- so many that it has crashed -- so we haven't yet read a statement from Maclaren regarding the recall and how parents should proceed.
