If you took our advice and purchased a Britax Chaperone infant car seat, know this: The harness chest clip may break as your child is being secured into place. The company issued a recall of 17,251 Chaperone infant car seats sold in the United States and 2,350 of the same seat sold in Canada. Specifically, the recall affects Chaperone infant car seats manufactured between April 2009 and May 2010 with model numbers of E9L69N9, E9L69P2, E9L69P3, and E9L69P5. Those sold in Canada carry the model numbers E9L95P2, E9L95P3, and E9L95P5.
Apparently, broken chest clips could injure you and your child with scratches or become a choking hazard for your little one. If you're a registered owner or retailer, you should receive replacement chest clips by November 11, 2010.
Haven't registered your car seat? Then contact Britax Child Safety, Inc. at (888) 427-4829 or www.chaperoneseatrecall.com (you can also use this contact information to get more information on the recall.). If your chest clip is broken, remove it and all fragments. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration suggests continuing to use the seat while you're waiting for your replacement part.
