During the Black Friday season, beauty deals can be had. But whether they can at Kohl's remains to be seen. The most notable offerings can make your head spin (electric shavers for men) or have you smiling wide (Sonicare electric toothbrushes).
The head spinner: Electric razors
Kohl's has quite the offering of electric shavers on Black Friday -- nine models -- and we found that they all have a few things in common:
* the advertised original price is inflated a bit;
* none are mentioned in our report on electric shavers, but receive decent user reviews;
* and, finally, the sale prices are deals from what we can tell.
Knowing the aforementioned means that if you want to buy a men's electric shaver at Kohl's, you'll need to do your homework before walking in the door. Look at user reviews and price comparisons. Also be sure to check out our What to Look For before venturing into the vast world of men's electric shavers. Since besides deciding between a rotary and foil shaver, you have to consider battery life, wet/dry capabilities, pop-up trimmers for cutting longer hairs and noise level. A note about those snazzy features like an automatic cleaning base and LCD display: they sound great, but have no effect on the performance of a shaver.
The smile-inducer: Electric toothbrushes
If you're in the market for Sonicare electric toothbrush, there is one Kohl's Black Friday deal. And you may not have to be an "early bird" to snag one, but it wouldn't hurt since supplies tend to be limited. Kohl's is offering the Sonicare FlexCare + for $99.99, which retails for $169.99 normally at the discount retailer and almost everywhere else. The original Sonicare FlexCare is one of our Best Reviewed pick for those with smaller mouths, and the difference between the two is that the Plus has a UV sanitizer. However, not all the Sonicare toothbrushes advertised are deals. The Essence line models can be found on the web now for Kohl's Early Bird prices--available between midnight on Thursday, November 24 until 1 PM on Friday, November 25. These models are runner-up picks, so they are good toothbrushes but there isn't a reason to cut your holiday short for them.
