When planning a move, to-do lists are key. But that often means multiple, incomplete paper lists that can be easily misplaced. The Moving Planner app comes with a prioritized list of more than 210 items, such as buying moving supplies and disconnecting utilities. You can check items off as you make progress and add your own items to the list too. If there is more than one person involved in the move, you can share the list via email or social media.

Similar to Moving Planner, the Moving List app for Apple devices comes with 95 pre-populated items as part of a To-Do List, with the option to add your own items if necessary. Tasks are grouped together based on when you should do them - from several weeks ahead to the last few hours before the move. In addition to this very useful planning information, the app comes with a fun feature: if you're not sure whether you should keep or toss an item, you can shake your phone and it will instantly tell you what to do.
My Move (free for iPhone, Android, Kindle Fire)
In addition to helping you create a moving checklist, this app helps you find a professional mover. You can search for licensed movers by location, and read reviews before making your choice. In addition, you'll find a useful set of tips that will help you evaluate moving companies. You can request a free quote, based on your moving weight and distance. Once you have made your move, you can add your own review.
Moving Van ($1.99 for iPhone)
When you begin packing, the Moving Van app helps you keep track of your belongings. As you pack, you can use this app to catalog your items by taking a photo each box's contents and then assigning a name, number or room to each box. This way, when it come time to unpack, you can easily find the items you need right away by matching up the a box with its associated picture or pictures. As you unpack, you can mark off boxes as "unpacked" and keep track of how many boxes you've got left, so you have an idea of how much work you have ahead of you.
Bubble level (free for Android)
Once you have your furniture in place and belongings organized, you'll want to start hanging things up. With the Bubble Level app for Android, you can make sure your posters and other wall hangings are straight by holding any of the phone's four sides against it.
