Remember all that hubbub a few weeks ago about Netflix splitting into two separate subscription sites? Well, feel free to go ahead and forget about that. Having seen the error of their ways, Netflix is ditching Qwikster and going back to its original recipe of DVDs and streaming videos all managed on one site.
So why the sudden change of heart? Well, after first angering most of its customers in July with the increased subscription costs, Netflix has to admit that they just made things worse with the Qwikster plan.
In an official statement, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings says, "It is clear that for many of our members two Web sites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs. This means no change: one website, one account, one password...; in other words, no Qwikster."
It's a shame that it took hoards of irate customers to make Netflix see things clearly, but at least they can admit they made a mistake this time.
However, Netflix customers need not be too excited; the price increases are still a go.
