It looks as if there'll be no shortage of men's electric shavers offered at Black Friday sale prices this year. Based on what we're seeing in leaked circulars from Sears, Kmart, and Kohl's, you'll be able to choose from one of the best-reviewed rotary shavers overall -- the Norelco arcitec -- as well as a variety of second-tier models from the top manufacturers at attractive prices.
In our latest report on electric razors, the Philips Norelco arcitec 1050X is named the best rotary shaver. Its step-up sibling, the arcitec 1060X is functionally identical -- it simply adds a digital battery level gauge over the 1050X's more rudimentary charge indicators. Here's the good news: Kohl's features the Norelco arcitec 1060X in its Black Friday circular, where it's listed at a sale price of $149.99 (ignore the 1080X moniker shown in that BFads.net scan -- they got their listing wrong). That price is around $25 below what the lower-spec arcitec 1050X generally sells for. If you're looking for a good price on the best rotary shaver in the eyes of experts and consumers, this deal is one you should jump on.
Braun's Series 1 150 is among the razors discussed in the foil shavers section of our latest report on men's electric shavers. It's a no-frills model, especially compared to the more feature-laden (and more expensive) Series 5 and Series 7 razors, but it's still well-regarded by reviewers. Kmart is offering it for $29.99 on Black Friday. You'll normally find the Braun Series 1 150 priced at around $40 elsewhere, so you're looking at approximately a 25% discount on a good-quality, basic electric foil shaver. Amazon.com user reviewers give it an average rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars.
A number of other Norelco rotary shavers are also priced to move. Kohl's and Sears both feature the basic Norelco 7315 electric razor on Black Friday. The place to buy it is Kohl's, where it's a $29.99 doorbuster deal. Sears also lists the 7315 as a doorbuster special, but at $49.99, it's only two bucks off the regular Sears.com price. There's no point in getting up early for that. The handful of owners posting reviews of the Norelco 7315 at Sears have only good things to say about this budget rotary shaver.
Kohl's lists the Norelco 7810 XL as a Friday doorbuster for $69.99, including a bonus personal groomer, which we suppose is supposed to be the "carrot" here. The problem is that Amazon.com and Walmart.com sell the 7810 XL for $69.88 already (sans the groomer). It boils down to whether you think a free personal groomer is worth getting up at 4AM for. We don't -- they're generally cheap to buy anyway. The good news on the Norelco 7810 is that it gets very positive user reviews at both the Amazon and Walmart websites.
The Norelco 6940 is a $29.99 Black Friday doorbuster at Sears and is on sale at that price all day Friday and Saturday at Kmart, but it's a corded model. Given the number of good deals on cordless rechargeable shavers discussed above, why bother? For the same price, the Norelco 7315 doorbuster at Kohl's looks like a clear winner over the 6940.
