You might want to postpone your summer road trip if you plan to drive one of these vehicles: a 2010 Lexus RX350 or RX450H, and a 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport. Definitely take these to your dealer before you hit the road. For these and other recalls, read on. In auto safety

Toyota recalled 154,036 2010 Lexus RX350 and RX450H models. The accelerator pedal may get stuck in the wide open position, due to an unsecured or incompatible driver's floor mat causing the driver to accelerate to dangerously high speeds and making the vehicle difficult to stop and posing a serious crash risk. Lexus will notify owners beginning in early August 2012 and dealers will modify or replace the accelerator pedal and any driver's floor mats not specified for the vehicle. Volkswagen recalled 13,172 2012 Audi Q5s. The glass panel on the front sunroof may be subject to breakage at extremely cold temperatures and weather conditions, posing a risk of injury to the driver and a crash risk.  VW will notify owners beginning on or about August 7, 2012. Dealers will replace the front sunroof glass panel free of charge. Owners may contact Audi at (800) 253-2834. General Motors recalled 2,070 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport vehicles because they fail to meet federal requirements for parking brake standards. The park brake cable may separate from the connector, and fail to hold the vehicle in place, posing a crash risk to the driver and pedestrians nearby. GM will notify owners beginning on or about July 18. Dealers will inspect and secure the brakes free of charge.  Owners may contact the Chevrolet Owner Center at (866) 694-6546.

In other recalls

Innovage recalled 300,000 Discovery Kids Animated Marine and Lamps because they pose a fire and burn hazard. The firm has received 11 reports of the lamps short-circuiting, including three reports of the lamps catching fire and causing property damage. The recalled lamps were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Bonton, JCPenney, Kohls, Office Max, Toys "R" Us stores nationwide as well as the online retailers Amazon, Ideeli, JCPenney, Kohls, Macy's and Overstock from June 2010 through March 2012.  Consumers should contact Innovage at (888) 232-1535 or info@lamprecall.org for instructions on how to obtain a full refund.

Alltrade Tools recalled 45,000 Kawasaki cordless drills, model 691761, after receiving 33 reports of the trigger switch shorting and generating excessive heat, including one injury report. The recalled drills were sold exclusively at Costco stores nationwide from May 2011 through February 2012. Owners of the recalled drills may register online to receive a free drill, including shipping. Alltrade Tools is directly contacting consumers who purchased the recalled drills. Mars Petcare issued a voluntary recall on a limited range of three varieties of Pedigree brand weight management wet dog food. The affected products may contain small pieces of blue plastic, which entered the food during the production process, posing a potential choking risk.
