Recall recap: Bumbo Baby Seats, GE dishwashers, Canon EOS Rebel T4is, and loads of food recalls


Four million Bumbo Baby Seats were recalled because infants can get out of and fall from the seat, incurring serious injuries. An electrical failure and fire hazard caused General Electric to pull the plug on several dishwasher models this week, recalling some 1.3 million dishwashers in all. And food recalls this week proved even gourmet or organic food products offer no immunity to nasty pathogens, such as salmonella and listeria.

Mealtime hazards with little ones usually revolve around thrown food or spilled milk. You can add cuts and bruises to the list if you use certain Chicco Polly high chairs. Another huge recall: Family Dollar Stores recalled 280,000 decorative lights after reports of them causing fire. And Volvo, Nissan and Ford issued recalls this week. A dangerous morning with these recalls: Black & Decker Spacemaker coffeemakers, Evenflo high chairs and more


Forget actually drinking a cup of coffee to perk you up in the morning. If you own a certain Black & Decker Spacemaker coffeemaker, just grabbing the handle may jolt you awake, either by burning you or cutting your hand. The firm has received 1,276 reports of the pot handle breaking, including 68 injury reports of lacerations and burns. You'll need that caffeine fix to catch your tot if you put them in an Evenflo convertible high chair, 35,000 of which have been recalled because they pose a fall hazard to those in them. And if you have any nut allergens, you'll want to pass up OSKRI's Peach Granola for your breakfast fare, which was recalled because of undeclared cashews. So much for starting the day off right... Fisher-Price recalls a gazillion toys and baby gear


Fisher-Price and the Consumer Products Safety Commission today announced the recall of more than 10 million toys, play centers, tricycles and high chairs due to a wide variety of problems. Here's a rundown of what's affected, and what you should do if you own a recalled item. You'll need to check each product in order to decide what to do. With some items, Fisher-Price will send you a repair kit. For others , however, Fisher-Price will send you a comparable replacement product. The dates are particularly important. For example, Fisher-Price sold Healthy Care high chairs for more than seven years, but kept tweaking the design along the way. As a result, only Healthy Care chairs manufacturered prior to 2008 are involved in the recall. Read more
