After resulting in award-winning audio systems for the Volkswagen Jetta GLI and the new Passat, the partnership between Volkswagen and Fender (best known for its iconic electric guitars) is bearing additional fruit.
No, the Beetle Fender Edition doesn't sport different colors on each fender like the bygone Harlequin Golf. (Though, that might actually be neat to see again.) Instead, it's a single- color special edition aimed at musicians, audiophiles, and anyone else looking to channel their inner rock star behind the wheel.
In addition to its eponymous premium audio system, the Beetle Fender Edition's instrument panel is given a sunburst treatment reminiscent of the same finish used on many Stratocaster guitars over the years, with complementary seat stitching to finish the look. The package also includes standard Bi-Xenon headlamps, brushed chrome exterior mirrors, 18-inch "Dish" alloy wheels, and Fender logos placed atop the only paint color available: Deep Black Metallic.
VW says that it will formally unveil the Beetle Fender Edition at the Leipzig International Auto Show (there, we saved you plane fare). It'll hit showrooms this fall. Expect to see pricing announced closer to the release date.
