The Breadman TR875 is a favorite among consumers at Amazon.com, where it earns an above-average rating from more than 360 users. Owners like the fact that it has multiple bread cycles, a nonstick pan and one paddle for kneading dough. We read several reviews praising the Breadman TR875 particularly for its ability to make loaves of gluten-free bread, an important consideration for people with dietary restrictions. Despite the relatively high average review from Amazon.com users, it's worth noting that we found several complaints about customer service at Salton, Breadman's manufacturer. What's more, several owners complain that they received used or refurbished Breadmans instead of the new ones they had ordered.

Mason Currey, of Slate.com, reluctantly places it second to last in his review of five machines, noting that, while the bread quality was good (except for a too-light crust) it was so loud it jolted him from sleep. BreadInfo.com praises its attractive, stainless-steel casing and say it's a "good machine for the money," and notes its smaller size takes up less counter space, but gives it only a "B-" (their lowest possible score) for inconsistent manufacturing quality and complaints about customer service. A reviewer on the Breadmaker Machines blog also recommends it, praising the Breadman's compact size as well as the book of included recipes. The same user notes that some people may find the vertical loaves awkwardly shaped. We also found a few user reviews at Target.com and Epinions.com.

Our Sources

1. Slate.com

Mason Currey of Slate.com ranks the Breadman TR875 second to last of the five machines he tested. While he notes it makes good bread, although with a too-light crust, it's so loud that it woke him in the middle of the night. This may be a good choice for someone who lives in a house spacious enough that a loud noise from the kitchen won't bother them, but it's not for an apartment dweller.

2. Amazon.com

Many owners love this breadmaker, reporting that the Breadman TR875 is easy to use and relatively quiet. Those who use gluten-free recipes report that the cycle works well and delivers a tasty loaf. However, there are many reports of owners purchasing a new Breadman, only to open the box and discover a returned or refurbished model. Some report the nonstick plan can be scratched by ingredients. Other owners say customer service was not prompt or helpful and replacement parts were difficult to obtain.

3. Breadmaker Machines

The editor of the Breadmaker Machines blog has tried out the Breadman TR875 and was impressed with its multiple cycles and bread production. The machine offers value for its price point, the editor writes. However, the editor recommends protecting your countertop because while in operation, the Breadman produces enough heat to damage an unprotected surface.

4. Target.com

More than 20 users review the Breadman TR875, giving it an above-average rating. The majority of owners say they are satisfied with their breadmaker, adding that it is easy to use and turns out tasty loaves of bread. A couple of users complain that they received faulty machines and that customer service was unhelpful.

5. Epinions.com

Only a handful of owners had reviewed the Breadman TR875 at the time of our reviews. They like the multiple baking cycles, new styling and digital display. All report it makes good bread if you avoid the included recipes. However, some owners say the gap between the kneading paddle and the housing make it difficult to clean the machine, and occasionally the paddle will be stuck to the loaf. Several report it is noisier than other breadmakers they have owned.
