The Medela Pump In Style Advanced breast pump is easily the best-reviewed double pump. The Advanced is an upgraded version of the popular but discontinued Medela Pump In Style Original. Like the Pump In Style Original, the Advanced comes in a discreet carrying case and includes a double pumping kit, a storage cooler for expressed milk and a battery pack, and it uses Medela's two-phase expression system designed to simulate a baby's natural nursing pattern. Parent reviews say this is a good choice for working moms who need to be discreet and efficient. If you don't need all the extras, consider the cheaper (but also well reviewed) double pump, the Ameda Purely Yours (*Est. $160, pump only), which is not sold in as many retail outlets.
The Medela Pump In Style Advanced is reviewed in many places, including the book "Baby Bargains," the breast-feeding website Cerean.net and About.com. We also consulted consumer comments on retail websites like BabiesRUs.com.

BabiesRUs.com offers a treasure trove of well-organized reviews of the Medela Pump In Style Advanced and other breast pumps. In well over 400 reviews parents say this model is easy to use, portable and comfortable. Their biggest complaint is that the pump is noisy.

3. Cerean.net
Only double electric pumps make it into this site's top rankings, which appear to be somewhat out of date. The ratings here seem to be based on research, manufacturer specifications and user feedback, and the editors are breast-feeding professionals, which adds authority to their analysis. The Medela Pump In Style Advanced and the Ameda Purely Yours appear to vie for top status on this website, which also offers good general information and how-to's (like how to get your health insurance to pay for your pump).

4. Amazon.com
Out of more than 50 reviews at Amazon.com for the Medela Pump In Style, it's worth noting that only one reviewer gives it a 1-star rating, saying that it broke in only two months and the replacement model didn't last either.

5. About.com
About.com's guide to pregnancy and childbirth offers brief information about what she says are the best electric pumps available. It's not clear what criteria she uses for determining which pumps make it onto this list. (Note: ConsumerSearch is owned by About.com, but the two don't share an editorial affiliation.)
