The Dyson DC21 Stowaway canister vacuum is included in the latest round of independent testing from Consumer Reports. The U.K.-based Which? magazine covers the DC21 as well. We did find a detailed write-up at the Canadian website Future Shop, but it's not clear if the writer actually tried out this vacuum. Amazon.com and Epinions.com have a few dozen very positive user reviews between them.
Dyson has several top-rated upright vacuums on the market, but the DC21 Stowaway is its only canister model. Reviewers are impressed by this bagless canister vacuum's futuristic look and advanced technology, including cyclonic suction and a pop-out dust bin. It does well in independent testing, especially on bare floors; some owners say its performance on carpet is just so-so. For the same price, the Kenmore Intuition 28014 (*est. $500) excels across the board. At half the price, reviewers say the Hoover WindTunnel Bagless S3765-040 (*est. $250) is a decent budget choice.

It's unclear if Tansey actually tested this vacuum, but he provides a good overview of the DC21's features, praising its pop-out dust bin and cyclonic suction. He also says the handle and canister are "remarkably maneuverable."
