The pricey Kenmore Intuition 28014 isn't the most budget-friendly canister vacuum, but it's a standout in independent testing. Pet hair removal and emissions control are excellent; both are important considerations for allergy sufferers. The Kenmore name doesn't have the cachet of some luxury brands, but reviewers say it outperforms more expensive Dyson and Oreck canister vacuums. If the Intuition's $500 price tag is too steep, the Hoover WindTunnel Bagless S3765-040 (*Est. $230) tests exceptionally well for its price range, especially on bare floors, but the Hoover is noisier, isn't as good with emissions and isn't as effective at digging up pet hair.

Kenmore appliances tend to get sparse coverage from reviewers, but we found some useful analysis in the latest canister vacuum roundup from ConsumerReports.org. Ratings there are based on well-designed independent testing; for canister vacuums, each of the 22 models is put through its paces on carpet and bare floor, plus it's tested for pet hair removal, emissions, noise, air flow and handling. We found owner-written reviews for the Kenmore Intuition 28014 at Sears.com.
