Ode to my miele, November 6, 2009

By Andy Nash (realname TM) "Vac-Master Nash" Seriously? You want me to write a review for a vacuum cleaner? A vacuum cleaner. How is it that gmail doesn't catch these e-mails anyway? Oh well ... It's a vacuum cleaner. I mean it's not like I bought it because I wanted to. Or because I really really liked it. What can I say? It was a gift. For my mother. In honor of all the vacuuming she did for me growing up. A thoughtful son, wouldn't you agree? She sent me an e-mail saying she liked it. But, then, isn't that what all modern mothers do? Photos? Now you want photos too? Well I do remember one with an old girlfriend. It was a hot steamy day and it was our first time doing serious ... cleaning ... what did you think I would put in a review? She began vacuuming TOPLESS! Thankfully Facebook wasn't around for sharing embarrassing photos then (what did we do without it?) so it's lost. But, wait, it was another brand of vacuum (funny the things you remember about relationships), so never mind! What about design? Well if I wanted a cool design I would have bought a Dyson. By the way, aren't those Dyson Blade hand driers great? Most of those hand dryers in public restrooms are like Republicans, lots of hot air with no real use, but I digress. The Miele does look cool. Perhaps I should draw a picture of it, making it look smaller and send it to the Transportation Security Administration. I could say that I saw someone trying to sneak one into an airplane restroom for who knows what evil purpose. Imagine being searched at airports for mini vacuums. Ignore this paragraph, in addition to shamelessly ripping off Graham Greene (Our man in Havana), it doesn't have anything to do with this review. (By the way, the book and film are great - oh no, now I'll need to write two more reviews.) Is there a word requirement for a review? Actually, I'll fess up. I actually have a Miele too. That's why I bought one for my mother. I can't say I like it, I mean who really likes vacuum cleaners? I hate using it, although I hate using it less than I hated using my old vacuum cleaner. As a vacuum cleaner it's pretty good. I guess that's enough. Aren't you glad I didn't say the vacuum cleaner "sucks"?

Like my vacuum a lot, but didn't buy from Amazon., October 20, 2009

The vacuum is great. I've had it for over a year now. It's amazingly quiet, even on the highest setting. Only a couple downsides. One is that the cord is a little short, but we have a one bedroom apartment, so it's not too big of a deal. Two is that I wish that the attachments were stored in/on the canister somewhere. The more expensive models are that way, but too expensive for me for that feature. Oh well. But as for a vacuum, it's quiet and does very well on our wood floors. I like that the motor also has a 7 year warranty. Hopefully nothing will go wrong with it. The more expensive models have an automatic motor cut-out feature if you get something stuck in the hose and the motor starts to overheat, but if you pay attention to what you're vacuuming and know the sound of something wrong, then you should just shut it off and you won't have a problem. I bought my Miele Carina vacuum from Witbeck Vacuums online. Free labor repairs (if you'll ever need them) for the first 5 years. Came very quickly in the mail too. Again. Really like our vacuum.

Great Vacuum!, August 20, 2009

I have had this vacuum for a year now (a wedding gift to myself). I use it on carpeted, wood and linoleum floor surfaces along with an area rug. It's super quiet and I haven't had any problems with it. Also, the compact size is really nice. Before I bought it online, I went to a local store and tried it out. We always had the standard $75 upright vacuum from walmart/target/kmart growing up and my mom ended up replacing them almost every year... I was wanting something that was better quality and would last longer. So far, so good!

The Only Brand For A Vacuum Cleaner PERIOD!!, August 14, 2009

I bought this vacuum after getting a catalog that had Miele vacuums in. I never heard of them. I went to a local shop that sold them and looked them over and tested them out. From the moment you see them you see QUALITY. It is obvious. These are the best vacuums out there for the money. You spend more upfront, but what you get is an invesment piece for years to come. Do not hesitate to buy any one of Miele's vacuums. They truly are excepitonal. This vacuum works very well. I have the turbo brush to pick up pet hair. This works great. There is no need to spend the money on the capricorn unless you have very deep pile carpeting. this brush gets everything off the carpet and what is hidden in the carpet as well.

Worth every penny & smart Euro style, August 3, 2009

As soon as you have this baby out of the box you know you've made the right choice. Solid, well-crafted, smart color, sophisticated but simple design...simply amazing. And that's not even having turned it on. You'll actually want to get your floors dirty just so you can pull it out and use it again. INCREDIBLE power, intelligently designed bags, awesome self-retreating chord; every element of this machine is carefully thought out and applied to its design. A+ all the way. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more and treat yourself to this machine. It'll outlive your grandchildren, and they'll love using it too.

3. ConsumerGuide.com

The main complaints about the S4210 canister vacuum here are Miele's complicated naming system (the Carina, Antares, Capella and Sirius are all identical, except for color and attachments) and the Miele canister vacuums' high prices. Other than that, the Miele earns top marks, although the writer says it could do a little better on carpeting.
