Bissell Quicksteamer, February 8, 2010
So far I love it. Great for little messes. Have kids and animals and this has worked out wonderful. Little harder to do a big room as the tank isnt that large but for the price it is great!
Great Bang for your buck!, January 25, 2010

First things first. I spent 80 bux for this shipped! Great price...I can tell you that after spending countless hours on my knees with a Spotbot, this bissel "light weight" carpet cleaner works very well.(way better than i expected for such a low price) This unit is NOT designed to do a whole house but rather trouble areas. I've got two small male dogs that are not 100% potty trained. That said, i'm always finding new spots to clean up. The trick here is to use a Good pet-stain pre-treater & let it soak for a few minutes before cleaning(stain will change colors to a more clear state). Also don't overly soak the carpet when running the cleaner. You will, through the drying process draw up "extra" unwanted stains from the carpet pad if you soak it too much. If the spot reappears after drying...go over it again but with less solution. This way whats left in the pad will not leach up into the visable fibers. I use HOT tap water & cut back on cleaning solution in the fresh water tank(because i pre-treat). CONS: This cleaner uses NO steam(misleading advertizing)! No way to quickly clean the brush spinning brush area without a screwdriver to take it apart. Also the waste water container can be hard to rinse out due to all the little compartments & passageways in it. Lastly make sure you put it back together correctly...cause it won't work worth a dam if you don't. For me...80 BUX WELL SPENT!

Does not clean at all, January 18, 2010

I did not think this cleaned at all. I used several times and saw no difference. (I love Bissel I have many of their products. The Bissel healthy Home vaccum is great, but very heavy.) I had better luck with my McCulloch MC-1275 heavy Duty Steam Cleaner That is for daily cleaning. I did not buy it to clean my one carpet. The Bissel carpet cleaner just did not seem to make a difference. The brushes do not touch the carpet and it does not pull the water or dirt out. It is very lightweight and easy to use, but it did not clean. I used according to the directions. It's barley used if someone wants to buy it! Makes a interesting coat rack.

Cleans best when using very hot water, January 13, 2010

This little unit works great with very hot water. The manual does not give a specific temperature. It only indicates that the water should not be boiling, consequently it should be below 212 degrees F (100 deg C). So boil a kettle of water and pour half a cup of cold water in and mix. This will bring the temperature below 212 F. I called Bissell Customer Service to be 100% sure. They agreed that any temperature below 212 degrees F is OK. This is in line with their FAQ that reads: Why does my machine have the word steam in the name when the machine does not produce "steam"? Answer BISSELL and its competitors have been using product names with derivatives of the word "steam" for hot water extraction deep cleaning machines for several years. We believe the use of "steam" serves to identify this category of product. THE POSITIONING WAS NOT BY CHANCE. CONSUMER HOT WATER EXTRACTION MACHINES WERE DESIGNED AS A "DO-IT-YOURSELF" ALTERNATIVE TO PROFESSIONAL CARPET CLEANING. To the best of our knowledge, professional carpet cleaners had been referencing their services as "steam cleaning" since the 1960's, when they used kerosene or electric heaters to heat cleaning solutions to temperatures approaching 200°F. Professional carpet cleaners ultimately developed truck-mounted cleaning machines that are capable of temperatures near 212°F (the boiling point of water). But no matter how hot their solution, the cleaning process used by professionals is simply hot water extraction. Nevertheless, the industry consistently has used the phrase "steam cleaning" to describe its service and this description has been perpetuated by technical leaders and educators. ACCORDINGLY, MASS-MARKETED HOT WATER EXTRACTION DEEP CLEANING MACHINES WHICH ARE SOLD AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO PROFESSIONAL CLEANING SERVICES HAVE BEEN CHARACTERIZED WITH THE SAME DESCRIPTIVE PHRASE, IN ORDER TO GIVE PROSPECTIVE CONSUMERS A REFERENCE POINT FOR COMPARISON.

Great Vacuum Cleaner!, December 24, 2009

I purchased this vacuum cleaner based on the reviews here. I must admit that I purchased it from Lowe's on sale for $80. It is small, easy to operate and cleans well. It did a wonderful job on my carpets. It is as good, if not better, than Hoover's more expensive models. However, do not expect this vacuum cleaner to clean large carpeted homes. My apartment is small--550 square feet. I would recommend the larger models for homes. But this is the perfect vacuum cleaner for small carpeted apartments or homes. I did have to refill the water tank once to clean my carpets, but that was only because I tend to be a neat freak.
