The HTC Touch Pro receives fair to very good evaluations as a slider smartphone despite somewhat sluggish performance. In general, the Verizon version receives much lower ratings than the Sprint version. Both versions sport a 2.8-inch touchscreen, a physical QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2-megapixel camera with flash and autofocus and a microSD slot. CNET's Bonnie Cha says, "The HTC Touch Pro is one of Sprint's most feature-packed and powerful smartphones for business users." She does note, as other reviewers do, that the device is a bit bulky and can sometimes feel "underpowered."
PCMag.com offers separate reviews of the Sprint ("good") and Verizon ("fair") versions of the Touch Pro. Reviewer Jamie Lendino states that Verizon "removed some important features, crippled the RAM, and jacked up the price." On the upside, he describes the device as having "sharp styling" and "clear, punchy voice quality." Still, Lendino recommends the BlackBerry Curve 8330, the Motorola Q9c and the Samsung Saga and Omnia as alternatives, all of which are easier to use and more powerful. User reviews are mostly positive, but there are some complaints about the interface, particularly compared with the iPhone. The recently released HTC Touch Pro2 offers some upgrades; we review that separately.
PCMag.com and CNET have the best reviews of the HTC Touch Pro; InfoSync offers a good analysis of the Sprint model. ConsumerReports.org does not cover either version. Owner reviews are scarce for the HTC Touch Pro at Amazon.com, but there are about 200 at CNET.

1. PCMag.com
PCMag.com rates the Verizon version as "fair" and links to an earlier "good" evaluation of the Sprint version. Reason? "Verizon took a powerful smartphone from HTC, removed some important features, crippled the RAM, and jacked up the price. The result isn't worth the bother for most customers," says Lendino.

InfoSync gives a good analysis of features, and its score of 77 out of 100 ranks it with the HTC Fuze atop the business smartphones list despite "unresponsive" performance in which the "interface lagged" and "system sometimes didn't respond to buttons."
