Most reviewers laud the LG Lotus (LX600) as the best mobile device for texting. Much praise is given for its full QWERTY keyboard, which is regarded as one of the best on any messaging phone. Its 2.4-inch, 262,000-color display is also touted for its vibrancy. Sprint's One Click user interface is easy to use, and it allows direct access to Google search, YouTube videos and Sprint TV. Advanced features include stereo Bluetooth, a web browser, instant-message capabilities and email support. A 2-megapixel camera and music player add functionality to the LG Lotus beyond its primary use as a texting device. The music player is pretty basic, and a microSD card slot gives you up to 8 GB of storage. Image quality on the camera is "clear and sharp" according to CNET, and the camera has a number of settings that you can tweak. Its price point docks it a few points, however, as most critics concur that there are cheaper messaging phones out there such as the Samsung Rant and Verizon Blitz that perform almost as well as the Lotus. Pricing for cell phones changes constantly though, and the Lotus has come down in price since its launch.

Experts can't seem to agree on the LG Lotus's unique design. At 3.3 inches by 2.4 inches by 0.7 inches, the Lotus' square clamshell body is the phone's most polarizing feature. Some reviewers find its appearance to be hip, while others feel that LG has strayed a little too far from conventional mobile phone design. User reviews show that owners are also split on the Lotus' design. The flashy purple color option helps to fuel this critique, but the Lotus is also available in an understated satin black. Talk time and call quality are generally regarded as good, with no major issues identified in reviews. Critics agree that the LG Lotus should serve the most demanding texters well, while those looking for a more business-oriented offering, both in design and usability, should probably look elsewhere. The LG Rumor is another solid option for Sprint, and PCMag.com's Jamie Lendino suggests stepping up to the Palm Centro or BlackBerry Curve for more robust options, because Sprint has reasonably priced data plans.

A number of informative reviews exist for the LG Lotus. Among those that give the Lotus a numerical rating, CNET provides the most thorough report on its features based on in-house testing. InfoSync, PC World, PC Magazine and About.com also critique and rate the Lotus so it's easy to compare it with other mobile phones. MobileTechReview.com compares certain aspects of the LG Lotus to competitors such as the Samsung Rant and the Verizon Blitz. An editorial review at Phone Scoop is extremely detailed, but its conclusion is vague. In addition to this, a number of owners have posted their own reviews on Phone Scoop.
