LG LX290

Affordable entry-level slider phone for Sprint

Pros
  • Low-cost
  • Long battery life
  • Fantastic call quality
Cons
  • Poor camera
  • Font size cannot be enlarged
  • Lacks advanced features like 3G and music player

While the LG LX290 is a solid slider phone, it doesn't stand out among more feature-rich phones, according to reviews. Even so, Nicole Lee of CNET thinks there's still a market for basic phones, and recommends the LG LX290 for people who prefer "a fairly simple phone with a good number of features."

Reviewers agree that the LG LX290 particularly excels in two areas – battery life and call quality. Aaron Baker of PhoneDog.com tests reception in an area where Sprint's signal isn't very strong, and has "near-perfect" call quality. CNET's Lee says call quality is excellent, but notes that the speakerphone is "a bit tinny and harsh." The handset's battery life is rated at six hours of talk time, but tests by CNET yield nearly an hour more than that. The no-flash 1.3-megapixel camera, however, performs poorly in all tests. PhoneDog.com's Baker also mentions that the inability to change font size on Sprint's One Click user interface might be a problem for some.

About.com's review of the LG LX290 is short and succinct, and gives a quick preview of the phone's features. The reviews at PhoneDog.com and CNET are more in-depth and expound more on its capabilities.
