The T-Mobile Wing (manufactured by HTC) is a few years old. But at its launch, reviewers called it the top smartphone choice for T-Mobile subscribers. Manufactured by HTC -- makers of touch-screen devices including the HTC Touch Pro and Touch Diamond -- the Wing features a large (2.8-inch) touch-screen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, a media player and a 2-megapixel camera. It's a quad-band GSM smartphone that also boasts integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity but can't use a high-speed 3G data network. Its Windows Mobile 6 operating system should prove an advantage, according to reviews. While email support is good, T-Mobile subscribers whose main priority is access to corporate email might be better served by the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8320, the Curve 8900 or the T-Mobile G1.
As for voice quality, PC World's Melissa Perenson calls it "terrific." CNET and PCMag.com reviewers agree, but PCMag.com's reviews notes that reception is weak. Battery life is also well rated. Most reviewers find the device itself to be a bit bulky, yet another reason to shop around for newer, slimmer devices. Both professional reviewers and some users complain about balky software that makes the device seem sluggish.
The best reviews of the T-Mobile Wing can be found at CNET and MobileTechReview.com. Editors at both sites do a great job testing the Wing and provide nicely detailed reports. We also found useful information at PC World, PCMag.com, Consumer Reports, InfoSync and Money Magazine. Amazon.com has the most user reviews, at nearly 50; there are also owner reviews at DigitalTrends.com and Letstalk.com.

CNET's report on the T-Mobile Wing is long and detailed. Reviewer Bonnie Cha notes that the T-Mobile Wing is a bit bulky and can get bogged down when running several apps at once, but she says that the addition of Windows Mobile 6 is a boon. Users give the Wing an average of 2.5 out of five stars; many of the complaints from both positive and negative reviews are about the balky software that freezes and crashes frequently.

The T-Mobile Wing gets nearly 50 reviews at Amazon, resulting in an average score of 3.5 out of five stars. Like other sources -- both professional and owner reviews – the main complaint is the sluggish software; other users dislike the slide-out keyboard, yet others find the touch screen overly responsive. One owner summarizes the Wing thusly: "I go between loving the wing [sic] and occassionally [sic] wanting to throw it out the window."
