Worx WG303

Pros

  • Zero emissions
  • Inexpensive
  • Auto chain-tensioning system
  • Auto chain oiling
Cons
  • Cord restricts range
  • A little heavy (11 pounds)
Where to Buy

Reviewers like the 14.5-amp Worx WG303's power; they also point to its auto chain-tensioning system, with an oversized knob that's used to tighten or remove the chain, and automatically maintains the proper amount of tension while you're using the saw.

The Worx WG303 has safety features that include a reduced-kickback chain and a quick-stop safety brake, though there is no safety lock to prevent accidental start-up. An auto-oiling system lubricates the bar and chain during use. If you like the idea of an electric chainsaw but don't want to be restricted by a cord, you could consider the Black & Decker CCS818 (*Est. $90) , although it's less powerful and capable than the Worx WG303. A budget-priced gas chainsaw like the Poulan Pro PP3516AVX (*Est. $150) is going to be the only way you'll see equal to better cutting power without a cord.

We found a useful review of the WG303 at ThisOldHouse.com; the reviewer has tried out the chainsaw, though he doesn't compare it to others. Owner reviews at Lowes.com and Amazon.com offer feedback based on ongoing use of this chainsaw.
