Charcoal grill for parties and big families
- Huge grilling space
- Multiple shelves, racks and a worktable
- Durable cast-iron grates and powder finish
- Lack of airflow control
- Complicated assembly
The Char-Griller Outlaw is a barrel-style charcoal grill, which has a greater cooking surface and makes it easier to manipulate coals for indirect cooking. The Outlaw draws notice in reviews for its array of accessories and low price. With 1,000 square inches of cooking space, the Outlaw also boasts a wooden worktable, three shelves beneath the grill, a warming rack, a thermometer and an adjustable coal grate for better heat control. The charcoal grill's cast-iron grates and powder coat finish make it extremely durable, and the barrel is guaranteed for five years. The Outlaw does, however, lack the airflow control of such competitors as the Weber One-Touch Silver (*Est. $90) and its size means longer warm-up and cool-down times. A side firebox for smoking and a rotisserie attachment are options.
The Char-Griller Outlaw is neglected by most professional review sources, who generally look at modest-sized grills. About.com's Derrick Riches, however, covers this model and praises it highly. Owners and bloggers, many of whom say they barbeque for dozens at a time, post enthusiastically about the Outlaw. Some of their reviews can be found at The Barbeque Grill and Smoker Source, HomeBarbequeGrilling.com, as well as Buzzillions.com and Amazon.com.
