The Dell Vostro 1510 is a no-frills 15.4-inch laptop aimed at the business market. There are lots of customization options, so users can configure the 1510 exactly to their needs. That said, upgrades can quickly take the 1510 past the budget range. Although the very similar Dell Inspiron 1525 (*Est. $500 and up) is a little cheaper when configured identically, configuration options are more limited with that laptop, and graphics can't be upgraded at all. That last point makes some say that the Vostro 1510 is a great choice for consumers as well as business users.

Reviews for the Dell Vostro 1510 aren't particularly plentiful, but we found a great one at NotebookReview.com, which has reviews that are noteworthy for their great attention to detail. We also found a good review targeted directly at college students at StudentBuyingGuide.com. PC World (Australia) also weighs in, but tests a configuration that's priced considerably above the budget range.

3. PC World (Australia)

Australia's PC World reviews the Dell Vostro 1510 in a brief report that covers most important considerations. Test results are described, but they may be misleading for budget buyers as the tested configuration includes upgrades -- including a more powerful processor -- that takes it out of the cheap laptop price class.
