In professional tests, the Kenmore 6800 electric dryer performs just as well as the top-rated Samsung DV520AEW/XAA (*Est. $950) , yet it costs significantly less. This 7.5-cubic-foot dryer offers a wealth of useful features, including a moisture sensor, a sanitize cycle, a wrinkle-prevention setting, an interior light and a unique heated drying rack.
Users generally describe this dryer as quiet and easy to use, with excellent drying performance. However, it also gets some complaints about the sensor-drying feature, which some users say is unreliable. Another source of frustration is this dryer's electronic controls, which users say are unnecessarily complicated and hard to adjust. As one owner writes on the Sears website, "[W]ith all the fancy buttons, the only setting you can adjust is time dry," making it difficult to leave clothes damp for ironing.
The Kenmore 6800 is included in the latest tests of electric dryers at ConsumerReports.org, and we found about 35 reviews from users at Sears.com (the only retail site that sells Kenmore appliances).
