The Kenmore Elite Oasis ST 78092 Gas Dryer is less expensive than most gas-powered steam dryers, and experts say that gas dryers usually cost less to operate than their electric counterparts. The steam drying feature effectively removes wrinkles and refreshes clothes, though experts say you can get the same effect from tossing a damp towel into a regular dryer. Other features include a heated drying rack, electronic controls, sound-dampening insulation, drum light and an extra-large blower that the manufacturer says improves air flow and shortens drying times. It also has a 7.6-cubic-foot capacity -- large enough to dry a full load of clothing from almost any washer. The design is a little dated compared to other washers in this price range, but it does have a viewing window in the door. The Amana NED7200TW (Discontinued) is also highly rated and costs less, but omits the steam-drying feature.
